Native of Paraná - Brazil, Talissa Bavaresco is a dancer and choreographer with expertise in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Muller Polarity Techniques as well as the Theater and Commercial worlds.
She was the very first Brazilian to graduate from the Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz & Contemporary Trainee Program – in New York City - under the directions of Michael Blake, Mia Michaels and Angelica Stiskin, on a four years full Merit Scholarship. She then furthered her studies at the Jennifer Muller/The Works’ Scholarship-Apprentice Program for one year. Talissa’s performance repertoire includes dance companies such as Keigwin + Company, The Joffrey Ensemble, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Buglisi Dance Theater, Humans Collective, TunanuT, Jazz Ain’t Dead and KR3T’S Dance Company; as well as independent works by professionals like Nicole Wolcott, Tyler Gilstrap, Gabrielle Lamb, Patrick O’Brien, Manuel Vignoulle, Mark Caserta, Bradley Shelver, Tiffany Rae-Fisher, Timothy Edwards, Peter Pucci and many more. In 2017, Talissa was selected to work with the Merce Cunningham Trust for future projects. She has performed live with artist Kimbra at the Park Avenue Armory Gala (2017) in a work set by Larry Keigwin. Talissa has also worked for artist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness in the music video for his single ‘So Close’ (2017), and with artist Ivan Modoni/Oriion in his music video for ‘Indigo’ (2014). She worked at the PANORAMA Music Festival in NYC (2017, 2018) as a featured performer at TheLAB with The Windmill Factory, and she has also worked with JoiLynn Moves/JoiLynn Productions on concept videos and in flash mobs in partnership with Flash Mob America. Talissa had the honor of performing with Buglisi Dance Theater at the Table of Silence Project (2018) in a touching ritual for peace in memory of 9/11 at the Lincoln Center Plaza in New York City.
Talissa is a proud member of the International Dance Council (Conceil International de la Danse – CID): the United Nations and UNICEF affiliated world-wide dance community of professional dancers and choreographers. In 2012, Talissa was awarded 1st Place alongside Honorable Mention by the Festival de Danza del Mercosur, in the pas de deux category for her role as Colombina in Balanchiene’s Harlequinade. She was also a featured dancer on Pointe, Dance, Dance Spirit, Dance Teacher and Dance Retailer News Magazines in advertisement campaigns for the Joffrey Ballet School, which have won Outstanding Advertisement Awards by the Harvey Research Ad Q Studies (2015, 2017).
Talissa choreographed at the 2017 DUMBO Dance Festival, Dixon Place’s “8 in Show”, The New York Jazz Choreography Project, Williamsburg Art neXus (WAXworks), HATCH Presenting Series (Fall & Spring Series), National Choreography Month (NACHMO), Holi Hai – Spring Color Festival NYC, Uptown Rising and Flair Entertainment NYC Spring Gala (2018). Her works have taken over NYC’s venues such as Symphony Space, Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance, The Mark O’Donell Theater at The Actors Fund, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, The Martha Graham Studio Theater, The 14th Street Y Theater and The Riverside Church Theater. Talissa has also produced, staged managed, and been a production assistant for various shows in New York City.
